Peaks Island is a 740+/- acre island located in Casco Bay approximately three miles offshore and within in the city limits of Portland, which is Maine's largest city. 410 Seashore Ave is an 18 minute ferry ride from the Old Port in Downtown Portland.
There are approximately 1,000 year-round Peaks Island residents. All residents and visitors arrive on the island at the Ferry Landing, except those individuals using their private boats. Casco Bay Lines (see ferry schedule page for more information) offers passengers and vehicle service to the island.
Island area activities include shopping, restaurants, local art galleries, history museums, picnicking, swimming, biking, exploring WWII artillery bunkers and kayaking; just to mention a few. Many activities can also be enjoyed in Portland including shopping in the famous Old Port area, numerous restaurants, visiting the Portland Museum of Art, whale watching tours, etc.
